As I reflect on my upbringing, I am overwhelmed with pride. My mom put her best effort into raising us (my brother and I), and it shows! Her demonstration of faith and communication is evergreen and inspires me to become my best. Fortunately, my journey
to adulthood also included some positive male figures who helped me build character. All of which I am thankful for, and why I joined the CLIC FOR BOYS. By providing mentorship and community to young black men, we can guide them towards a brighter future.

The CLIC has blessed me before there was an actual place to meet! You know how the Bible mentions “when two or more are gathered in my name…”? Well that is the CLIC for me. Before there was a house, I would meet the founder Nat C. Jones for lunch meetings and she would pour into my life and help pull me out of my darkest moments. You can really feel the love of God through Nat, the CLIC staff and now inside the CLIC house. There is a safeness within the CLIC building house that is indescribable. I’m thankful to God for giving Natalie the vision and I’m more grateful that Natalie followed God’s plan without fear. The CLIC gives me hope, the CLIC is there when my lights are out and there isn’t any food in the fridge, and that’s just me. I can only imagine who else the CLIC house & CLIC team has blessed in the meantime. I say all this to say thank God for the CLIC HOUSE AND STAFF, and mostly thank God for Natalie C. Jones. I love you all.

I am happy to be connected to this organization and to the leaders of this group. Natalie has a heart specially designed to help support our teen girls. Her desire to help them understand that they are “Queens” with value. The desire to make sure girls know that they matter and that they can make a difference is powerful and impactful during this season. I have had the privilege of working with CLIC for Girls as a volunteer for over one year now and it has been a phenomenal experience. Being able to pour into the lives of our young girls and watching them grow as a result is amazing. In a world that provides so many negative and inappropriate examples for young ladies, it is nice to have a safe place for them to go to and be surrounded by successful positive women who are committed to showing them a better way! CLIC is that place!

CLIC is an amazing program and I am proud to have been a part of the mission of bringing cultural awareness to our community as well as giving your girls a place to open up and discuss things that are bothering them in hopes that their futures will be brighter than some of ours were. The amount of work that goes into breathing life and values into these young girls and boys are nothing short of amazing, and I know that if we had more organizations like this, we would have a great road ahead for the future of our children.
